Riccardo Scopigno (M.Sc. 1995 Summa cum Laude, Ph.D. 2005) ha maturato un’esperienza lavorativa di 15 anni nelle telecomunicazioni, conseguendo nel frattempo il dottorato di ricerca. Le sue competenze coprono aspetti eterogenei delle telecomunicazioni, dalla teoria alla pratica, come maturato dalla sua variegata esperienza lavorativa.

In Italtel-Siemens (1997-1999) è stato progettista HW per telecomunicazioni, lavorando su ATM e sulle architetture di nodo per la qualità di servizio; in Marconi (2000-2003), ha approfondito le proprie competenze di progettazione di reti IP per gestori di rete, lavorando con i principali operatori di rete italiani e ottenendo la certificazione come network engineer (Marconi Pittsburgh PA). Riccardo è in ISMB da 9 anni, prima come responsabile dell’Unità BWA e, dal 2011, come responsabile dell’area di ricerca MLW. Rappresenta ISMB in ETSI ITS (il gruppo di lavoro sui Trasporti Intelligenti all’interno dell’Ente di standardizzazione europeo delle telecomunicazioni) nel Car-to-Car Communication Consortium e in Ertico.

È autore di articoli sul WiFi e sulle comunicazioni veicolari in conferenze IEEE (VTC, VNC, PIMRC, QShine) – anche in funzione di Chair e TPC. È anche autore di un brevetto (reti sincrone) e due tecniche in fase di brevettazione per reti VANETs (georouting MapCast e CSMA/CA con QoS). È attualmente attivo nella ricerca sulle reti wireless con QoS, inclusi le applicazioni industriali, gli aspetti di modellizzazione di canale, lo studio di soluzioni MAC, le tecniche a livello di rete e gli strumenti di visualizzazione applicati alle reti.

Riccardo Scopigno (M.Sc. 1995 Summa cum Laude, Ph.D. 2005) has matured a 15-year working experience in the TLC field, obtaining, in the meantime his Ph.D. His skills cover very different aspects of the telecommunication architectures, from theory to practice, as matured from his variegate working experience.

He was a hardware designer for TLC systems in Italtel-Siemens (1997-1999), working on ATM networks and node architectures for quality of service; in Marconi (2000-2003), he achieved a good expertise in IP network design for carriers, working with Italian carriers and gaining a certification as network engineer (at Marconi Pittsburgh PA). He has been in ISMB for 9 years, first as responsible of BWA Unit, and, since 2011, as head of MLW research area. He is ISMB’s representative in ETSI ITS (the working group on intelligent transportation systems of the European standardization body on TLC) and within Car-to-Car Communication Consortium and Ertico.

He is author of papers on WiFi and vehicular communications at IEEE conferences (VTC, VNC, PIMRC, QShine) - acting also as Chair and TPC, and author of 3 patent pending techniques for VANETs (on synchronous MAC, georouting MapCast and CSMA/CA QoS). He is currently active in advanced research on wireless networks with QoS, including industrial application, channel modeling, MAC methods, network-layer solutions and visual analytics tools for networks.
