Packaging Tourist Offerings for Various Class of Users

We believe that the future of tourism can be better assisted by autonomous systems able to tailor tourist packages according to user’s needs and preferences. At the frontier of machine learning, data semantics, and knowledge base population, the student will combine particular subsets of local tourist and cultural offerings into smart packages that are optimized for particular traveler’s budgets, and typical time constraints considering mobility and public transports. The goal of the thesis will be then two-fold: - conduct a survey of technologies enabling to build a personalized recommender system - formalize the set of variables that define a travel and the set of user’s requirements - develop a prototype that generates tourist offerings maximizing the user’s requirements while meeting the travel objectives The student will touch real data and work in an international context of a European project. The student will have the possibility to learn under a joint supervision of researchers from ISMB, EURECOM, and Politecnico di Torino (there is the possibility to do the thesis abroad if this is part of your MSc program). It’s a great occasion to get into the research mindset with a strong push for the innovation.
