ISMB Will Attend the EMC Europe 2014 on Electromagnetic Compatibility

29 August 2014

EMC Europe, the leading symposium in Europe on electromagnetic compatibility, will be held at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg (Sweden) in September 1-4, 2014. EMC research and conferences in Europe have a long tradition: the series of independent EMC Symposia based in Wroclaw, Zurich and Rome running every second year, merged into EMC Europe which is now organised every year in a European city to provide an international forum to exchange technical information on EMC. EMC Europe is sponsored by Huawei, Caclom ESI SA, and Nolato Solikonteknik. It is supported by the IEEE, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Society, and the International Union of Radio Science.

At the symposium, the Antenna and EMC (LACE) Research Unit, part of the Advanced Computing & Electromagnetics (ACE) Research Area, will present two contributions developed as part of the European project STRUCTURES. The two works show recent developments of the group in the field of Computational Electromagnetics (CEM), specifically aimed at the efficient and accurate EM modelling of large and complex structures found when studying electromagnetic compatibility problems:

  • an interpolation technique, based on a suitable post-processing of responses of the system to be studied, to alleviate the computational burden related to parametric simulation of large structures;
  • an application to homogenous (lossy) materials of a hierarchical preconditioner, originally developed for metallic structures, to accelerate the convergence of iterative solvers used in CEM and to solve some issues related to low-frequency applications.
